Cycle 6 Information

GALEX at Caltech

Summary of changes:

The HEASARC Remote Proposal Submission (formerly RPS/AKBAR) has been changed to ARK/RPS. The login that you used in prior years or for other programs is still valid.

New versions of proposer tools are available, which can exchange run files with ARK. We hope these will make it much easier to evaluate program/target safety and feasibility.

Grism zeroth-order images (pre-images) require coordinates and exposure times, even for archival pre-images. Archival pre-images should be selected from the lists of archival or planned imaging observations.

Integration times for Archival data are now requested (this is to help with technical feasibility evaluation).

Proposers may request special co-added data sets, combining observations from different programs or at different pointing centers. (SPECIAL CO-ADDS)

Summary of non-changes:

Proposal submission will be through ARK/RPS.

Brightness limits are unchanged from Cycle 3.

Templates for Scientific Justification have only extremely minor changes (LaTex: exclude 1 field, change style file; Word: no change). SJ's are still to be submitted in .pdf

There are still explicit exclusion regions (same ones) around the LMC (3.75 degrees) and the SMC (2.0 degrees).
